The goal of establishing a cooperative insurance company was to create specialized programs that would cover individual needs of farmers. Alexandros Baltatzis, the founder of Cooperative Insurance, envisioned this unique business for Greek standards, which was characterized as "the jewel of the cooperative movement".
In 1994 the Cooperative became the company of all forms of cooperative - social economy in our country. At the same time, Europe's leading cooperative enterprises entered its share capital.
Cooperative Insurance today counts 40 years of history, with 50.55% of its share capital belonging to Greek cooperative associations and banks and the remaining 49.45% to leading European cooperative organizations which further strengthened the cooperative family . Companies such as Unipol (Italy), Macif (France) and P&V (Belgium) still offer their expertise and support in every strategic step of the Cooperative.
This is the only purely cooperative insurance company in Greece, governed by the cooperative authorities. A dominant criterion is its capital adequacy, which is demonstrated by the highest solvency index it has and ranks it among the best insurance companies in Greece.
